Master artist Mie Ishii's tile art on the walls completed our jacuzzi. He painted the auspicious characters and items on Arita tiles at the atelier Fukushima in Kyushu in 2009. Tiles were fired in the kiln at the atelier and sent to Tokyo. Master Ishii, the building contractor and myself connected all of the tiles and numbered each of them on the back, then the tiler covered the walls with them. In the middle of the night after the walls were completed, I noticed a dancing man's foot placed upside down. Having to rotate the tile myself is now a good memory.
When I was a child, I went to a lively Sento (communal bath house) every evening. I acquired a great deal of knowledge and wisdom by observing various happenings and scenes. I would look forward to the new year's painting on the wall every year. I hope our guests will enjoy such atmosphere and relax at our jacuzzi.
