“Mono no Aware” at Suntory Museum

I went to Suntory Museum of Art in Roppongi to see the exhibition of “Mono no Aware” today. “Mono no Aware” is an empathy or sensitive feelings toward things we encounter in our life. This principle could be the key to knowing the beauty in many fields of Japanese art. A painting on a folding screen of the tale of Genji was especially amazing! : )

A wonderful view of Asakusa

One of the nice spots in Asakusa that I recommend is a coffee shop on the top floor of the Asakusa culture tourist information center. The building is designed by Kuma Kengo and located just in front of the thunder gate. You will see a wonderful view of Asakusa area with Sky Tree from the shop! Ryoko

Nezu Museum

I went to Nezu Museum to see the National Treasure, Irises Screens, a painting by Ogata Kōrin during Genroku era of Mid-Edo period. The painting was wonderful and also the museum was one of my favorite art spots in Tokyo. I saw beautiful natural irises in full bloom in a Japanese garden at the museum! Ryoko
