My Sweet Day

2010.08.08

I love having sweet especially ice cream and all kinds of cake, I can even have them for breakfast, lunch and dinner in a day. Well, I actually did it few days ago. Hidemi Sugino in Kyobashi ( just off Ginza district) was my first stop, this pastissier found in 1973 and the owner chef Hidemi Sugino become well-known when he won the world pastissier championship in 1991. The waiting line’s started even before the shop opens each day. Of course, when I got there, I had to que up, once the store opened, everyone walked inside in order to select the choice of cake or kind of sweet then proceed to a seat. Unfortunately, picture inside the facility is not allowed in order to preserve the quatity of time of each customers to enjoy the taste of each cake. However, I managed to find picture of the cake I chose, which both were famous and could only be eaten inside only. The rich taste of quality ingredient was mouthful and worthed all I paid for….Next, I stoped by Tokyo Contemporary Art Museum to see the exhibition of Karigurashi no Arrietty and had lunch at cafe Hai, for dessert, I chose Vietnamese Flan, which used lots of contense milk and coffee for the caramel with crush ice, it’s very refreshing after a long walk.
Then I went to Shibuya for the sake of having Shoto sponge cake, I knew this Shoto Cafe by watching Japanese TV show, that the man in yellow suit walks along the area to search for cheap and delicious food that is recommened by each place he visited. For the Shibuya district, he ended up at Shoto Cafe and had toasted Shoto cake with fresh whip cream, of course I ordered the same thing and nothing went wrong…it’s surely the best and most delicious sponge cake I’ve ever had.

Fine French dinner with a wonderful viewing!

2010.08.07

I went to a brand-new French restaurant “Chez Tomo” in Ginza which I had really wanted to visit for a long.
The restautant was located on the 11th floor so I was stirred with that beautiful night view of Ginza just as I came in there.
They had only one kind of course menu for 5980yen,however,there were many choices for the relish and main dish in the course. I was puzzled which to choose : )
All dishes were very beautiful, like an art! Especially, the dish of vegetable was amazing.Look at the picture!
There were so many kinds of fresh vegetable on a plain white plate and each vegetable was cooked in an each different way. I really enjoyed it : )

Ryoko

Department store Maruhiro in Kawagoe-city

2010.08.06

custard cream, chocolate cream, macya cream and fresh cream
I went to “Maruhiro” in Kawagoe-city in Saitama. It’s very famous local department store in Kawagoe.
Kawagoe-city is my home town so I often go there Since when I was a child.
There is one of populer TV program for women in the moning.
Every week day they have a guest and they ask a recommend food to the guest.
Most of the time it’s sweets. And they call them “Omeza”.
Now, ”Maruhiro” has a “Omeza fair”!!! so you can imagine how wonderful the ”Omeza fair” is!
I got some cream buns which I really wanted since very long time ago.  When I found it I was very happy : )

It’s not big size but heavy more than I thought. It means a lot of cream inside ; )
I heard the cream bun is the most populer in this fair.

It should be keeping in a refrigerator. When I had the first bite, the cream is cool and sweet then I loved it ♪
Good bun for this season.

full of chocolate cream

♪TEA ♪

2010.08.05

I bought rooi bos tea at “St.Christopher’s garden” in Jiyugaoka couple of months ago.
The tea shop  recommended from Ryoko. She knows many good cafes and restaurants!

I wanted good one for health so I selected rooi bos tea.
It has special tast, so someone might feel it’s like a kind of medicine.

But I really liked it very much. It’s tasts mild and makes me relaxed  : )

2010.08.05

The impressive massive size and magnifisant architech of The National Art Center Tokyo has impact on my interest to visit since I first saw it in an architech book. Unexpectedly the miss taken train line has taken me to Nogizaka Station and when I walked up, there was it. The curvey exterier design of steal and glass reflected the beauty of nature and allow to have an open space inside. Another unique things are 2 round pillars in the middle of the facilities serves as the location of cafes and chic French restaurant. On the underground floor is art store where some unique items are found.
Exhibition halls are devided in order and allow to have various exhibitions and showcases at the same time. Currently, there are 2 art exhibitions going on, for more detail, please feel free to visit http://www.nact.jp/
